Giveaway! Win a Gorgeous Handmade Metal Bookmark

Storming K.M. WeilandYou know me: I never need very much of an excuse to do a giveaway! And I know you guys: you never need very much of an excuse to participate in a giveaway! So what’s the excuse this time? To celebrate the December 4th release of my historical/dieselpunk adventure novel Storming, I’m going to be running prize drawings every week this month, culminating, of course, in the biggest prize box yet on launch day.

The Prize

Today, I’m super-excited to announce the generous folks over at Skura Design (and Etsy shop) are offering a unique handmade metal bookmark. Here’s what mine looks like:

Isn’t it gorgeous? It adds a touch of class to whatever book your reading. From Skura’s webpage:

This bookmark is a part of our bookmarks series that are made from archaic material – brass, curved with special acid, soldered by hand and polished with great attention and love.

  1. A miniature Turkish carpet / runner that I bought in the Souk in Istanbul 15 years ago. I bought packets of them to distribute as presents

  2. Michael Ryan says:

    The receipt from the bookshop.

  3. Jan Swanson says:

I use an old tie clip that I have had for years of Charles Schulz’s Snoopy etched on it.

  4. Gina Scott Roberts says:

A pink and green rubberband woven strip attached to a pink ribbon my boss’s son made for me a couple of years ago. I was so touched, I simply *had* to use it and smile every time I take it out or put it in whatever book I’m reading….

  5. My bookmark is a strip of pictures of my granddaughter and myself that was taken at her school bazaar 5 yrs ago.

  6. Well, I’m pretty boring with this question. My current bookmark is…a bookmark! However, it does hold some special significance as it came from my (wonderful) Classical Greek teacher.

  7. I use the receipt or one of my nice book marks in my books. Right now, though, I am using a post-it note in one book because it is the type of book where a real bookmark would fall out easily. Thanks for the giveaway and congratulations on the new book.

  8. Um…a folded piece of paper. hahah

  9. I’m currently reading Stephen King’s latest, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, with a superhero bookmark from the Children’s Library section of my local library. I always tend to grab the children’s bookmarks because they’re much more colorful and fun.

  10. These are BEAUTIFUL!!

  11. I got so excited about these bookmarks, I forgot to answer the question. 😉 My current bookmarks vary. I use personal business cards, receipts, just about anything within reach when I start and stop a book. My favorite “real” bookmarks, though, are magnetic clips. I can latch them onto the side of the page to mark the paragraph where I stopped (instead of just the page).

  12. CJ Labranche says:

Bookmark: A post-it note folded in half!!

  13. Lorna G. Poston says:

I’m currently using a bookmark I got at the library which says, “Books. The other channel,” but I usually just reach for whatever’s handy.

  14. Patti Kurtz says:

    a post it note.

  15. Same thing I always use. The receipt I got when I bought the book!

  16. I’m using a post-it note so old it has completely lost its stick… kinda sad. This would be a welcome change! 🙂

  17. I love how beautiful these bookmarks are! Thanks for hosting this giveaway 🙂
I tend to use old movie theatre stubs as bookmarks. Everytime I read a new book, I change. Right now I’m reading The She-Wolf by Maurice Druon and I’m using my ticket from Guardians of the Galaxy!

  18. Kelsey Zink says:

that is a beautiful bookmark 🙂 My current bookmark is a metal feather with a pendant on the end – the piece of the map of Middle Earth that shows the Shire – a birthday present from my sister and brother in law (they give awesome presents 🙂 )

  19. I keep a stack of ticket stubs, receipts, merch tags that all make good (and slightly ghetto) bookmarks. Right now I’m using the stub from a ticket to a Ducks game.

  20. I’m currently reading two books; for one of them I’m using a metal bookmark with a dolphin on it and a yellow ribbon attached, and for the other one I have a Hobbit-themed bookmark with Bilbo on it.

  21. Right now, I’m using a book mark from the Chronicles of Narnia of Susan, complete with a small metal pendant!

Congratulations, Katie! Your new book looks fantastic!

  22. Jordan Blair says:

This is gorgeous! I’m currently wedging a lime green post-it with irrelevant numbers scribbled on it into my pages haha.
